The All India Radio, Thiruchirapalli, requested Sri Aurobindo to give a message which was broadcast on the 14th of August, a day prior to India’s Independence Day.

In his message, he says, “August 15th is my own birthday and it is naturally gratifying to me that it should have assumed this vast significance. I take this coincidence, not as a fortuitous accident, but as the sanction and seal of the Divine Force that guides my steps on the work with which I began life, the beginning of its full fruition. Indeed, on this day I can watch almost all the world-movements which I hoped to see fulfilled in my lifetime, though then they looked like impracticable dreams, arriving at fruition or on their way to achievement. In all these movements free India may well play a large part and take a leading position.

A Call to a New India brings out Sri Aurobindo’s vision of the role that India can play on the world stage. It’s relevance is heightened all the more in the face of the numerous challenges faced globally today.

The Mother of Sri Aurobindo Ashram has said that this message “needs to be read and re-read and its significance explained to millions of his compatriots.”

The film is a “creative visualisation of the life of a visionary, a yogi, a rishi who is infinitely diverse in his work and expressions, but whose life was not on the surface for people to see.”

Studio Eeksaurus which made an earlier film for the Sri Aurobindo Society – Sri Aurobindo: A New Dawn – has once again brought animation art to life in A Call to a New India, an effort that aspires to not only inform but also inspire and motivate humanity to bring this message to its fruition.
