Merveille, which means Wonder, is exactly that. A 140 acre estate of barren land which most people would have never looked at, let alone worked on, is today a living proof that given the right tools, energy and motivation, anything can be transformed.

An astoundingly beautiful wooded area has replaced the parched soil, giving birth to almost 2500 plant species, the “ biggest botanical collection in the region”, many of which are not native to this area. The experiment continues despite the many hardships faced by the stewards and draws attention from researchers and botanists from all over. Methods to create climate habitats, including bees for pollination, have been very successful and hopefully can become a model and inspiration for anyone anywhere.
