Have you ever thought of what happens when a stray animal is no longer able to move due to injury or disease? How does it fend for itself, how does it stay safe, how does it stay alive?    Such animals are all around us – especially in India where cows and dogs and pigs are a common sight – but somehow they escape our attention. Most people whizz past a stranded animal without a thought. Some may care but not having the tools or resources shy away from extending help. But there are rare ones who are both compassionate and proactive and we have friends at Sharanya Earth Foundation who are exactly that.
Animals don’t need fancy toys and bandanas around their necks. Their requirements are simple – food, safety, love. In this 7 acre piece of land, strays and abandoned animals of all sorts are offered a place of refuge.

Animal Welfare has always been close to heart for the AuroJeeva Trust and it was natural and a privilege to extend help and support for this endeavour. We have collaborated with SEF to initiate and create a place specifically for animals that are paralysed and unable to use their limbs to move around effectively. Paraplegic animals tend to develop deep sores and wounds due to dragging themselves on rough and hard surfaces which in turn adds to their existing state of depression and discomfort. In order to alleviate the stress, SEF is experimenting by using river sand and coco peat in a designated space for paraplegics. As a phased project, other than the regular care and treatment, a hydrotherapy pool, where water is used as a tool to mobilize atrophied muscles and stiff joints, is going to be developed on site.

We are grateful to have this opportunity to collaborate with Sharanya Earth
